TIE Revenant

StandaloneStarfighter - Heavy Assault Fighter

The TIE Revenant is a heavy Assault Fighter developed around 12 ABY. Heavily armed and with strong shields it’s fit to both dish out large amounts of damage while being able to shrug off a lot of punishment and accomplish its goals even under heavy fire.

The TIE Revenant sports a quartet of powerful laser cannons on the tips of its four wings plus a pair of Ion blasters to disable its targets. A pair of warhead launchers with 6 slots each can carry a payload of up to 12 warheads. A quartet of Ion Engines can bring the Revenant up to 110 MGLT, while a state-of-the-art SLAM system enables it to perform short boosts past 200 MGLT for fast attack runs. Combined with its firepower and durability make the TIE Revenant a formidable weapon against larger targets such as capital ships.

Different from other TIE designs the Revenant’s interior is constructed to offer its pilot adequate space and carry sufficient supplies to support long distance flights and carrier-independent deployment far off the respective home base.

Dev notes & Origins

The ship's design started off as a Blue Phantom-themed Dhilani Fighter. Instead of the TIE's solar panels, the original Reaper had a number of forward facing claw-like appendages, which I ditched fairly soon. In the end I fleshed out this one and left the "original" Reaper in a semi finished state.

Some part of the TIE Revenant's final design were inspired by the TIE Phantom V-38. from Rebel Assault 2.

HD Remake

I'm considering updating the TIE Revenant. There was a time when I couldn't get enough flashy stuff in a cockpit. Today I realize that it turned out a colorful flashy mess. So the idea is to tone it down and also convert some elements into Active/Dynamic Cockpit controls. That includes:

  • AC/DC Screen and control Elements
  • Diegetic Joystick & Throttle lever
  • Hyperdrive Lever & SLAM Switch

Next there's the idea of redesigning the wings and make them more angular rather than rounded. Wondering whether there could be a way to make the wings fold up upon landing?

Also looking for a way to add landing gears and canopy/boarding ramp, tho I still need to figure out how and where to add those AND figure out how a pilot would actually access the cockpit?
